Surgery: A guy goes into the hospital for the flu/cold, things get screwed up and he ends up a candidate for brain surgery! Basically a fun, staple song of the group in the days of old.
That’s Ridiculous: Same old story about being accused of things and having not done them. The classic boyfriend/girlfriend nasty break up and the accusations that always tend to ensue afterwards – you know, one minute you’re the next best thing to sliced bread; things go nuts, and suddenly you’re the scum of the earth that treated her like crap and supposedly you never cared about anything.
Sometimes: Memories of an old relationship that you just can’t get over. Off and on, off and on.
I Can’t Believe: Story about a nun being violated by her “father”, or priest (whatever you want to call him). Anyway, the song is about her, her shame, grief, and anger towards God for allowing it to happen.
Tar Poo: The name has no relevance to the song. It was just someone trying to say “Part 2″ after a 12-pack of beer, slurring words and saying “Tar Poo” instead of “Part 2″.The song is about a psychiatrist using his patients, perhaps brainwashing is a better word, to do his deeds. The song flip-flops between the psychiatrist and one of the patients, who is trying to escape, but can’t free his mind.
Funky Milk: The song is really about nothing in particular, just as the title, with reference to struggling relationships. Makes you wonder why you even continued some relationships.
Simple Woman: The song is about a woman whom doesn’t feel the same way about a guy as he feels about her. It’s about an ended relationship where the man still loves the woman, but the woman not the man.
Bertha: Bertha was sort of an inference to a woman who came to most of the band’s shows. No, she wasn’t that attractive. She typically would get in front of the band (in front of the stage) and go into this wild dance-like routine. Everyone would back up, watch her, laugh, and sometimes wonder. Scary, but amusing at the same time.
Voices Again: A man slowly going insane. (That’s my best guess!)
