STONE SOUR HEAD INTO STUDIO TO RECORD THIRD ALBUM
Band working with Nick Raskulinecz
New York, NY – Grammy nominated rock powerhouse Stone Sour announced today the commencement of work on a new album for Roadrunner Records, their first in four years. The band will record their third album in Nashville at Blackbird Studio with Grammy Award winning producer Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Velvet Revolver, Rush, Alice In Chains), who also produced 2006’s gold certified Come What(ever) May. The new album is due out this summer.
Frontman Corey Taylor commented, “I cannot wait to make this Stone Sour album. Everything already feels a million times stronger than anything we’ve done in the past. Plus getting back together with Nick is going to mean monstrous things. This is the year for Stone Sour.”
Stone Sour’s last album Come What(ever) May and self-titled debut are both RIAA Gold Certified and approaching platinum status. The albums have a combined 1 million digital singles sales. The band has had three top 3 active rock hits with “Bother,” “Through Glass” and “Silly World,” one top 10 Active Rock hit with “Made of Scars,” two Modern Rock hits with “Bother” and “Through Glass.” “Through Glass” remained at #1 on the Active Rock charts for a record 7 weeks. MTV, MTV2, VH-1, Fuse and Music Choice have continually offered major support. Stone Sour has to date received three Grammy nominations.
Stone Sour is Corey Taylor, James Root, Josh Rand, Shawn Economaki and Roy Mayorga.

Jerry Cantrell (Alice in Chains), Scott Ian (Anthrax, Vinnie Paul Abbott (Pantera, Damageplan, Hellyeah), Keith Buckley (Every Time I Die) and Meat Loaf are among the guest musicians who performed with Corey Taylor & The Junk Beer Kidnap Band (featuring #8 Corey Taylor of Slipknot and Stone Sour fame) on New Year’s Eve at Dead Man’s Hand in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Fan-filmed video footage of the performance can be viewed below.
Dead Man’s Hand was Ian and Cantrell’s brand new rock bar and performance space which opened in November and is now apparently “moving to a new location,” according to Ian.
The Slipknot/Stone Sour frontman has an unmatched vocal prowess, and he put that statement to the test on New Year’s Eve, taking on some notable cover songs with his all-new side-project: Junk Beer Kidnap Band.
Tearing up the stage at Scott Ian and Jerry Cantrell’s new Las Vegas haunt, Dead Man’s Hand, Corey Taylor ran through songs like Guns N’ Roses’ “It’s So Easy,” the Gin Blossoms’ “Hey Jealousy,” Diamond Head’s “Am I Evil” and Billy Joel’s “I May Be Crazy” alongside some original songs.
With Walls of Jericho drummer Dustin Schoenhofer holding down the backline, other guests during Taylor’s set included Meat Loaf, who dueted “Honky Tonk Woman” with the singer, and Every Time I Die’s Keith Buckley who sang The Misfits’ “Where Eagles Dare” while Scott Ian played guitar.

Slipknot main man Corey Taylor rings in the new year with Meat Loaf, Jerry Cantrell, Scott Ian and Vinnie Paul… ARTISTdirect.com editor and Dolor author Rick Florino captures it in this awesome exclusive review…
Trent Reznor hung the game (and Twitter) up last year. Dave Grohl is back behind the drum kit. Pearl Jam won’t be around forever, unfortunately. So the genre needs a new icon—someone that’s got something to say, but can say it with charisma. Corey Taylor is that leader. The Slipknot, Stone Sour and Junk Beer Kidnap Band frontman has got the voice, vibe and vitality. He exudes attitude, but most importantly, the man delivers at every show with every note.
