Corey Taylor - SlipknotArtistDirect recently conducted an interview with Corey Taylor. #8 of Slipknot talked about the upcoming Stone Sour album. Below you can read an excerpt from the interview.

Corey Taylor: “I am looking forward to basically becoming a mad scientist in the studio and creating an album that no one wants us to make. I pretty much got permission to do whatever I wanted, which means that I’m essentially going against the grain in an age where people are fucking trying to simply put out singles. We’re looking to do a double concept album and really make it destructive.”

Artisan News recently conducted an interview with Corey Taylor (#8 of Slipknot, Stone Sour). Below you can watch a video clip in which Corey talks about the upcoming Stone Sour album. Corey Taylor - Slipknot

“We’re still writing and recording stuff. Right now alone, we have 13 completed songs, with six more that I can demo, probably two or three that Josh [Rand, guitar] still has that we’re tweaking, and then a bunch that Jim‘s [Root, guitar] gonna bring in. Our ultimate goal is a double concept album, which the only way I can describe it is [Pink Floyd's] ‘The Wall’ meets [Alice In Chains'] ‘Dirt’ on steroids. And I think it’s gonna be fantastic. And if I can pull it off, it’s gonna be the biggest thing we’ve ever done in our career.

Corey Taylor previously said about the storyline for the next Stone Sour record, “It’s basically the story of a man who’s trying to figure it out. He can’t figure out if he’s happier when he’s miserable, or if he’s miserable about not being happy. It’s almost like a mid-life crisis in a way. He’s young enough that he knows that there’s still a lot of life to live, but he’s old enough to realize that he can’t be hung up on the romance of teenage depression and youthful aggression.”

Corey Taylor - SlipknotSound Spike recently conducted an interview with Corey Taylor, in which #8 of Slipknot talked about the next Slipknot album, his current solo tour shows, the new Stone Sour album, his plans for next year and more! Below you can read a few excerpts from the interview. You can read the whole thing at Sound Spike.

Sound Spike: I heard the new Stone Sour album is going to be a concept album?

Corey Taylor: Yeah, yeah. If I have my way, it’ll be a double concept album and it’ll be something very grandiose and something that probably will be the biggest thing we’ve ever done in our career. I’m really, really excited about it. The songs that we have right now alone are enough to make it fantastic and really get people’s attention. So I’m really stoked.

Sound Spike: Do you foresee a new album with Slipknot?

Corey Taylor: Not yet. It’s still a little quick to be doing anything like that. The great thing is we have all the time in the world to do something like that. When we do make another album, it’s gotta feel right. It’s gotta be for the right reasons. It’s gotta be for the right music. I think if we ran in right now and tried to force something, it would sound forced and it wouldn’t be as vibrant as the stuff we’ve put out in the past. Plus, we’re missing one of our key songwriters. Right now it makes more sense for us to rebuild everything as a band and maybe in a couple years go in and make a new Slipknot album. I’m not saying there won’t be one. I’m just saying right now I have no plans to make one.

According to The Pulse Of Radio, Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor has told Artisan News that the band’s next album may be a double-disc concept record. Taylor explained, “The thing I can say is that it’s like little bits and pieces of the first three albums, but it’s very dark. I’ve got a story . . . it’s almost a concept album that I’m writing right now — and it might turn into a double album. There’s a lot of really good material that we’re all kinda coming up with and I’m really excited to get in to the studio and see what happens.”

The follow-up to last year’s “Audio Secrecy” may be out in 2012 — a shorter gap than usual between Stone Sour projects.
